Conscientia 2011 - Indian Institute of Space & Technology, Trivandrum on 3-6 March 2011

Event: Conscientia 2011

Organised by:
Indian Institute of Space science and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram

Key dates:

Fest dates: 3rd-6th March 2011
Last date:

Details:

Ever wondered why things fall downwards? Yes, back in school, when you first heard of Newton, and gravity. And have you ever wondered why there are 12 notes to an octave of music? Or why the night sky is dark? When we were young, our one favourite question was WHY? As we grow up, we shelve our curiosity, and accept what we are told without many questions. For all with a passion for science, Conscientia 2011 will  reawaken your greatest weapon to learn - curiosity.

Here you shall see competitions made to find the diamonds in the rough and polish them to superlative brilliance. You will build things with your own hands. Learn how they work, and why they work the way they do. Or sometimes why they did not work the way they were supposed to.

Here you shall find all sorts of things that take up your time, from balloons to robots, debugging to sci-fi writing, mechanics to stargazing.
Here you shall be subjected to questions at the speed of light. Solve mad puzzles. Create smart solutions for tough problems. Count stars. Question laws that have been taken for granted; defy resistance and make circuits.
Defy probability and win.

And no matter what you came with, you will leave Conscientia with Knowledge.
The best of its kind, because you found out the answers yourself.

Literati 2011 in NIT Kurukshetra on Jan 27-30-2011

Event: Literati 2011

Organised by:
 NIT Kurukshetra, Kurukshetra

Key dates:

Fest dates: 27th-30th January 2011
Last date:

Details:

Literati, the term comes from Litteratus, that is a 'man of letters' in Latin. This implied people who could read and write, a distinction that carried a lot of weight when literacy was not widespread. Today, in the information age, Literati would refer to scholars and academicians who apply their superior minds for a greater good.
At Literati, the annual technical fest of the National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra, we try to provide a platform to the best minds of the nation to come together and work for the same 'higher purpose'.

Going by the world's needs today, we have decided to keep "Let's go GREEN" as this year's theme for Literati. This year, we pledge to make students, the future of the industry more aware of their actions, so tomorrow in the 'real' world, they will be able to design projects which help preserve our Nature. This perhaps, will be how we, the 'Literati' can payback to Mother Nature.

Techfest, a brainchild of eminent Professors and an actuated group of students of the institute, is an organization managed completely by the students of IIT Bombay, working on a non-profit basis. This dictum of the founders is fostered and followed by the word even today.

Apart from technological, Techfest has also envisioned the social development of India. With this aim in mind, Techfest has been taking several initiatives for addressing social and environmental causes. Since its beginning in 1998, Techfest has been organizing bigger and better events every year which leave a lasting impact on the nation. Techfest, today, reaches out to over 70,000 students from more than 2,100 colleges in India and around 5,000 Corporates and Faculty members. Techfest has been utilizing its wide reach all over India to promote research and development in India and to impress upon the masses the benefits of a sustainable way of living.

The major part of the operations of Techfest, in its early years, was the organization of the Annual Science and Technology Festival of IIT Bombay. Since last few years, apart from the Festival, Techfest has been organizing many of its pre-festival events, enlarging the dimensions of the whole culmination. The primary objective of the Festival was to provide a national platform for students to showcase their talent. Techfest has successfully organized this Festival for 13 years, ensuring that the graph of its activities has always been rising.

Techfest is managed by a group of 21 Managers and an Overall Coordinator, who take the major decisions regarding the planning and execution of the events. A team of more than 800 Coordinators and Organizers work to put these plans into action under the guidance of these Managers. Every year, Techfest works towards the realization of a pre-defined vision, which drives and guides the organizers for the entire year.

Techfest had earned the tag of Asia's biggest Science and Technology Festival much before it went global in 2009. It is renowned for its unique aggregation of events, exhibitions, lecture series and competitions that it organizes every year.Techfest brand name carries with it the responsibility of providing the best and the latest in science and technology to the nation, with its doctrine of social and environmental welfare remaining intact.
